I'm fine with my toned coins being in both PCGS (clear) and NGC (white) holders. Although given a choice, I prefer the PCGS holders. I think viewing a nicely toned coin, or any coin for that matter, is more natural in a clear holder and is most similar to viewing the coin raw.
dizzy, you have given me an idea. I am going to contact Russ to see if he is interested in helping me market some plastic fingers to place slabs in to make them look as if the coin is being held "raw."

Perhaps access holes (or notches) in the slab itself so one could touch the rim. Maybe with some manipulation even access the whole surface for cleaning and dusting. Or ....dipping.
Or put the notches on the corners so you could make a clamp and use em for casters.
If the coins became worthless they could always be sold as toys.

Thank you.
