  • I may be wrong but I don't think they have slabbed any Cheerios as of yet.

Somebody called me and said that he had submitted a Cheerios dollar in the original holder to PCGS for a client, and it came back in a normal holder with no special designation. I offered him $300 less that I would have paid for it in the original holder.

  • If its not the different feather variety strike, maybe they just grade and slab it? It's the diff variety that people look for. I haven't seen or heard of any in a PCGS slab as of yet.

So far all of the Cheerios dollars examined out of the original holders have had the "Reverse of 1999" with the strongly detailed tail feathers. Considering what we now know about the time frame of the design change, I would be extremely surprised to find a Cheerios dollor that did NOT have the pattern reverse.

BTW, I have now discovered a die characteristic on the obverse of the "Reverse of 1999" Sacagawea dollars that can be identified while still in the Cheerios packaging. I am trying to get a picture of it for Mike Wallace to post on his small dollar website.
