NorCal Coin Show in Fremont, CA this Weekend

For those of you who live in Northern California, there is a coin show this weekend in Fremont, CA. It is hosted by the Northern California Numismatic Association and the show runs on Saturday and Sunday. The coin show will be at the Elks Lodge on Farwell Drive right off of Mowry Avenue in Fremont, CA.

I was in attendance for this show last year, and it was a very good show with many dealers and a nice selection of coins for sale. I will be there tommorrow. Is anybody else planning to attend?

Didn't know about it but I'm actually free this weekend. Just might go. You got a link or anything like that?
  • Do you have an address and a time? Also, how many dealers?

The show is at the Elks Lodge at 38991 Farwell Drive in Fremont, CA. Farwell Drive is on the first left after getting off on Mowry Avenue from I880 heading East. I think the show starts on both days at 10am for the public and goes on until about 5pm or something like that. I believe that there will be about 60 tables or something like that.
  • Thanks! I'll be there, baby in tow (wife is out of town).

Chances are the tables will have a name sign. If not I always keep a stack of business cards on my table next to my display cases.

  • Anybody else going to be there? It's a great show.
  • How do you get to it from BART?

I think there is a bus route on AC Transit that'll go from the BART to the intersection of Mowry and Farwell. That'll get you to within walking distance to the show. I don't take AC Transit so I don't know which route would take you there. Search the AC Transit website and they'll probably have some information.

JC is big on Peg Leg Ike's.

I'll be set up there as well. I'll probably have a few Ike's out in the case.

Indeed, it is a good show to me. I did not setup in any show for 13 years and there is much different now compared to 13 years ago.

Dealers started to set up from 8am and public started to come in at 10am today. It was loaded with dealers and collectors between 9:30am and 1:30pm. Coins were moving and about 20% of my inventory was gone in the first two hours image

I was set up at this show today with the table next to jcping's setup. Attendance on Saturday was strong in the morning but then fizzled out by noon. Attendance then picked up again in the afternoon with more people buying than in the morning. Wholesale transactions were strong for some but weak for most others. Most dealers reported stong public interest and nonstop tire-kicking by the attendees with retail sales being very soft.

By 3pm on Saturday I vicariously learned how it felt to live a day in the life of a museum curator.

Most of the dealers in attendance were dealers from California with several from the bordering states. There was one visiting dealer on the floor from Long Island who travelled specifically to attend this show. I saw him circle the floor aimlessly for about one hour before catching an early flight home after a fruitless search for material to buy.
