Has this idea ever been suggested to the grading services?

Each coin is graded by 3 different graders, right? Each gives his or her own grade, which I'm sure is different from each other plenty of times.
Why not put all 3 grades on the slab insert, you know, like 58-62-63.image. It's like boxing judging.
Do you think this would have any effects on the hobby / business, if any of the major TPG services decide to do it?

Personally, I think that would defeat the purpose of the grading services, why use them if they can't even decide a grade?

    Fact is, they can't.

Forget it, it's been done already, just in a different form. It's the Crackout Service.
  • ANACS already did that years ago on their photocertificates varieties ANACS 8, 9, and 10. They did it from sometime in 1986 through late 1989. Each coin was graded by four graders and the certificate include the obverse and reverse grade opinion for each grader plus the concensus grade. Also included are rankings for the coin for luster, surfaces, eye appeal, and strike.

They included a LOT more information about the coin than you get on todays slabs.

Actually, the old ANACS Photograde system had something similar, where the individual graders' grades were listed on back of the certificate, with a "consensus" grade for each side of the coin. I thought it was kinda neat.

Whoops, I didn't read condor's reply. He is correct.
