This is my latest addition. The pics shown don't do this thing justice.........it's loaded with frost and nary a mark on it.

I'd be afraid of turning it into a 68 immediately by putting it in the album and running the slides across it. Plus the crack out always has a risk too, usually to the coin, but hands are also at risk as you found out.
Try small bolt cutters next time. Snip carefully on the thin area right next to the widest part of the coin on each side. It's a really clean removal.
Hope your hand heals quickly.
