Opinions on this Bustie

Sorry for the pics, but I did not take these with my camera or with my setup. The toning carries around the entire periphery on both the obverse and reverse. The colors here are subdued compared to the coin in hand. Any grading opinions?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Bet you a dollar to a doughnut that NGC called it a 50.

    I would say XF40.

XF40 every day of the week. I wouldn't hazard to guess what NGC said. Off the top of my head Id say it's an O-101 because of the high 8.
  • EF-40? Are you making a bid through ANR coming up?

That coin is an XF45................................I too say NGC gave it an AU50, possibly an AU53 JMO
  • I say EF40 and so does NGC (IMO)

That coin doesn't appear to have a whole lot of rub on it???
I think it is mostly strike.

Me thinks some people are mistaking strike weakness in some areas for wear. That's a nice bustie, I agree with the CoinLouie, I'd go 50 money for that one.

You sir (and a few others) have a good eye. Not too much rub on her. I see a nice 50 also, but this is what NGC put on her.

The sneezy specks in front of her face I could do without, but the pretty colors more than compensate for that.

    A lovely coin.

I'd be willing to bet good money that the specks you're talking about are the remnants of a very old fingerprint.
  • Nice coin! I was going to say a solid 45.

    Boy I'm a tough grader!

Thanks for the replies guys, and I agree that this is not original skin, but dipped and retoned long ago. Cladiator- I think you might be right about the old remnants of a print (I wonder who's???)

Depends on how full luster is. Luster CAN help justify the grade. Perhaps not 53, but maybe 50. It's really splitting hairs on it anyway.

Totally agree stman. Luster is nice on this coin and as for 50--53... It was only someones opinion that day- This coin is in that range to me and that is all that counts.
