Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

The Redbook lists retail prices, the Bluebook is the same thing but with "average dealer wholesale prices" that are so unbelievably low that you'd want to punch both the author AND the first coin dealer you could get your hands on.

And here I thought the most disturbing thing was my PCGS graded 2003 Platinum MS69 - 1 oz $100 Coin with the scratches and scuff marks on the sun, on the reverse.
I keep telling myself, if THAT is an MS69, then all my other MS69 Coins, of all types, should easily upgrade to MS70. Maybe even any MS67 and better Coins.
I think the most disturbing thing is comparing face value of one's collection to numismatic value, regardless of what color price guide is used. A collector with a thousand 5-cent pieces has fifty bucks face value for what is likely a six-figure numismatic value collection. Just one of the things I think about along with where does the universe end, and if it doesn't, how can that be?

<< <i>The single most disturbing thing in Numismatics . . .has got to be the prices in the Bluebook >>
If THAT is THE most disturbing thing in our hobby, we're far better off than I've been aware of - quit looking.
<< <i>to a collector who has no idea what the bluebook contains, can you give an example of why it sucks so badly? >>
Yes, I too would like to know....
