Are there rules surrounding canceling an Ebay auction?
I bid in an auction on Ebay, and the item was of relatively low value. There were a few days to go with this auction, and in my opinion, this auction was flying under the radar and I was going to get the item for a song.
Then last night I got an email from the seller which stated something like, "I need to cancel the auction because I will be traveling for work and if you win, I don't want you to have to wait for a week or two for delivery of the item when I finally return home from my trip. Sorry for any inconvenience."
Are there rules surrrounding when you can cancel an auction? I am not saying that I doubt this seller is traveling, but it seems like an odd excuse. If I won the auction, couldn't the seller just email me and tell me that delivery will be in a week or so? Or, could he have sent me an email asking if I minded waiting for a week or two for delivery if I ended up winning? What do you think?

I have been asked to do this and have obliged but have refused if the items
had even 1 bid.
<< <i>but you can file a NPS (non-performing seller) report on him with ebay. >>
the auction has to run it's course to completion in order to file nps doesn't it?
