Price for an 1883-CC GSA Morgan MS63 DMPL

I stopped at an antique center today and saw a sweet GSA dollar. Common date, but the frost was incredible. I don't have any supreme coins, don't get to any shows, and don't have any local coin shops... so my eyes were bugging out.

Liberty was completely frosted over. The coin was clashed. There was frost oozing to the clash mark under Liberty's neck. The mirrors were spectacular. I could see my ugly face from a distance. The seller had it graded as MS63 DMPL. There were quite a few bag marks which would probably keep it at 63. He was asking $475. That's about $450 over my budget!!!!

So what's a good price for an 83-CC MS63 DMPL GSA?

If the coin is as super as you say it is, then $475 would be about right.

I can't remember at the moment if it's the 83cc or 84cc, but whichever one it is.... was struck from rusted dies. You will see the pits in the eagles breast and such on the reverse. You will also see a small die-flaw kinda thing under Liberty's eye. These have some of the most gorgeous mirrors and frost. This could very well be the case with the piece you are speaking of.

I'm pretty sure it was the 84.

My wife asked me for $100 so she could get me a Christmas gift. Damn.
  • As a dealer, I would pay no more than perhaps $300. $475 is a little rich at retail. Perhaps $400 would be fair.
