What date does this look like to you?

Is someone trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes here? I sure don't see an 1804 date

1804 Large Cent?

Looks like 1806 to me. The seller added some pictures that make it much easier to read.

Sure looks like an 1800 to me.

[Edit to add: That last picture they added makes it look more like 1806. Either way...not 1804.]

    I agree with Sean.
In the 3rd pic, looks like 1800 but in the fourth pic, looks like 1806

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Thats what I am seeing, 1800 & 1806. It sure seems apparant that it is not an 1804. I would think if the seller is on the up and up they would not be able to put it up as an 1804 in good conscience. I can't see people running the bids up on this thing if this is what the seller was hoping for. Reason this thing caught my eye was I wanted to see what these were going for. I was going through some old coins at my mothers over Thanksgiving and found a horrendous 1804 fake. It was a worn smooth draped bust that someone carved out copper to make a fake 1804. The reverse didn't even have the fraction. I'll post a pic when I get one.
  • It's not an 1804, it doesn't have the diagnostic cuds.

The cuds are only diagnostic if they are present. The genuine 1804 comes with no cud (S-266a second most common die stage), cud on the obv only (S-266b rarest die stage), and with cuds on both obv and rev (S-266c most common die stage)

Still though, this is NOT an 1804.

It looks like an eighteen Oh something or other.... like an upside down five to me..... however... at twenty four dollars I would not be interested....it is without stems, I can see that much....but the coin is way over priced either way, IMO.
