I have done this with moderns.... all offset by tax losses of course.... it's great when I can pull a state quarter from a bank roll, slab it, and sell it for enough to buy an AU Bust Half! (Honestly finding a coin like that takes luck, patience, and a good eye to not grade too many losers)

Yup, without doing this I wouldn't have nearly as much $$ to put towards my coin collection.
I buy selectively things that are interesting or that have some special provenance and then resell many of them.

I find most coins worthy of submitting for profit at Coin shows, Local coin shops and a local weekly coin auction.
