When is it the right time for a safe?

How much money do you think should you have in valued Slabbed coins before you should seriously consider a safe? just wonderin. i mean i dont think anyone in my family would ever swap a coin ( hell i know they wont) but my friends you never know. so how much in valued coins before you look into a safe and then again how small can i get that i can make sure everything stays like it should

    So, by substitution...

    Need = (cost/risk) * risk
  • family i trust. its my friends who i cant. never know who might swipe something. but just wondering ballpark range when i should really look into a safe.

    well a few of my friends are nice people but i dont trust them around the coins. (other than my family i trust noone). but value is $4000. risk is whenever they come over. cost i paid about half that $2500. ( for the coins)

    If you want to keep them away from visitors, a safe is fine. If you are afraid that someone will break into your house, the only way to be completely safe is a safe deposit box at the bank. Take pics of your coins, put them on your computer so you can look at them. Every other week or when you feel lonely, you can let them have a conjugal visit. -Dan

    And if we simplfy,

    Need = Cost

    NOW, we're getting somewhere.....

  • When the coin collecting bug bites someone, we all get a fever at various temperatures. If your fever is
    mild, you probably don't need a safe. If your burning up, you'll eventually need a free standing, bolted
    down safe, no matter how many coins you've presently aquired. Enjoy your collection when you choose to, keep it secured, and rest at ease when you're not at home. Coins are irreplaceable and should be treated accordingly, IMO.

    From what I've heard they do on a cruise when they go with their "friends" she might not be so concerned about a "super secret" safe.
    She might be..... ah, never mind.image
