What was the cheapest PCGS coin you ever sold on EBAY?

I would like to submit my candidate: #8362911168 @ $1.00. I'm happy to say that I did not send this coin in for slabbing, although I obviously lost money on the sucker.image

Neil, I think you listed the wrong number (that one doesn't show up).

    Do you mean THIS item?

    Your Link.

    My Link.

Here is the cheapest one I ever sold.. It was straight back from PCGS and I knew there were no scratches or anything on the holder.. look at them email I received..

    "Received the coin, thanks.

I sure get upset though when I've purchased a PCGS encapsulated coin and then there's a big scratch across the front of the holder that impairs the appearance of the coin.

I'm not supposed to care about this right?

The photo in your auction doesn't show that there is a scratch across the front of the holder where the coin is, funny how that works.

Had this been an MS68 and I had paid a lot more for the coin I would insist on returning the item.

As it stands I suppose I'll just give the coin away to one of my nieces, but I am seriously contemplating leaving a Negative Feedback.

People (myself included) generally won't leave a negative feedback when they are upset with a Seller because they are virtually guaranteed a retalitory negative in return.

Well, I know longer care about that. If I've got something to say, I'm going to say it.

    Cheery bye,
    Conway"

Wow! Paint found the one you wanted to mention...I found one that closed a week ago for $1 as well.....you should consign those types of coins to Russ and see if he can squeeze out an extra $.50 or so image

My cheapest was a $3.25 sample if I recall right...

Got $.99 for a 65 SMS nickel that was close to a cameo (PCGS).

Buyer even complained about the $4 shipping.

Asked him if he wanted to undo the deal, well he thought the overall deal was pretty good after I explained that I had about $20 in the coin with slabbing, postage, postage to him, e-bay listing fees, e-bay selling fees and paypal....but I make my profit by selling these kinds of coins in volume.

At least Conway gor NARU'd. And didn't neg you. How lucky!

Since I haven't actively sold on Ebay in any volume since 2001, I've not gotten stuck on a no reserve $.99 auction - for anything.

Coins back then virtually never went un-bid. Things sure do change!

  • I was looking at your 57 quarters. You listed a higher grade at a later auction. As a buyer I would wait for the higher grade from a trusted seller as yourself. I hope your pr66 gets more then the 1 bid!!

Results like these are definitely disappointing and keep me up at night as I begin to sell a few coins on eBay. A number of threads in this Forum provide tips for effective eBay sales, like this one. I would guess that ending auctions on weekday or Saturday afternoons, for example, tends not to maximize competitive bidding on eBay auction items.

I feel your pain and I wish you luck!

  • It might be a roosy I have listed now. I featured it, and it is at $5 or so.

I've never sold a cheap PCGS coin on ebay. However, I have sold a few PCGS coins to some CHEAP people on EBAY.
Doesnt' this sound a bit more like the truth ?
Such is the pitfall of the "no reserve, starting at face value" listing.

I've bought some 99 cent slabs on eBay -- mostly AU-58 graded moderns for my certified type set (and believe it or not, none of them have come from Marty). Of course, it's still $4-5 with shipping most of the time, but still much cheaper than "rolling my own."

  • Probably was the 1962 pr67 cam nickel I sold to you around the end of october. That was a very nice coin, if I remember correctly. I think it went for 5.50.

  • BTW, P8NT, I have had a few people do me like you were done with the nasty email. One recent one that comes to mind was a small hair INSIDE the recently graded PCGS holder. Seems it was all my fault and had nothing to do with PCGS. Anyway, people who send me nasty emails about things which are not my fault always find themselves at the top of my blocked bidder list. Amazing how that works isnt it?
