  The closest for me is this rim toning on my Antietam appears dark... but it does illuminate with some pretty color under light and under the loop

  Here is an 1838 seated dime with a double die reverse. The dime is toned a deep black that is not offensive....

  Not strictly a coin, but a US Mint Medal (NGC would slab it, but it's currently raw). Julian CM-38, a 1876 Oval Tree (Massachusetts) medal, in silver underneath all that black.

  Yeah, you kiddies are pretty funnny.....don't you guys have homework to do?
  Oh, it's Thanksgiving vacation......then go clean up your rooms!
  
  & of course my fingers are purple, from holding on to that beauty so tightly!
  
  For some reason (florescent lighting?) the neutral grays turned purple, toned down the purple in the quarter-tones of the coin, but my fingers kept some of the cast.
  
  Second picture is more the real tone, maybe a tad lighter in the highlights, but still a BLACK coin!
