Please help me with this ebay matter

I ran across a buy it now that was extremly under priced so I used the buy it now and payed through paypal. I get an email today saying that he is sorry but the price was listed wrong and he will be refunding my money. Is it ok to do this as a seller or should he hold up his mistake?

You said it was extremely underpriced, he said it was an error...so what's the problem? Forget it and move on. That is, unless the seller is already on the PCGS forums s**tlist™, in which case we can all have some fun complaining about how terrible the guy is

Boy, I'll say he underpriced it. It's my understanding that a seller can retract a sale IF they can show a gross error in the listing and in this case its about $125.00 under the PCGS guide.
I think you gotta chalk this one up to experience.

He had time to check his listing before comitting it for sale.

An offer was made and accepted and a legal contract was made.

Error or not, the seller should honor the sale.

Let it go. People make mistakes. On the other side of the transaction, look how many bidders win an item, and decide not to pay.

How about emailing the guy and seeing if you can work something out for your troubles that's fair to all. Just an idea.

Seriously though, possession is 9/10 ths of the law. The worst you could do is neg him (after all, you did "win" the auction)...

Contact him and find out what he wants at a minimum, maybe you could work something out.

Now, if he'd already shipped it to you, and asked for it back... Oh, well.

It's not just the $125.00, because on a $3,000 coin I would expect the seller to honor the deal for $125. In this case, the coin was underpriced by about 80%. That's clearly an error.

I am not going to hold him to it. We are currently working out a deal to make us both happy. Seller is responsible for checking the auction and given multiple chances before submitting auction though.

I guarantee that if you had bid $125 over what the coin is worth that you would have been on the hook. There just seems to be a fundamental lack of equality on fleabay.

not unusual to buy coins at 10-20 % of guide.

just bought a lot on TT from the Vegas sale that booked for 620.00,paid 75.00,thats what 12 % ?

same sale,different lot that booked for 505.00 paid 75.00 or about 15 %

and yes they were PCGS not NGC.

I did the same thing as a seller. Sold some coins for BIN of $40 when it should have been closer to $150. I sent the guy the coins anyways, and he know regularly browses my auctions and has bought quite a few since then.

The seller should sell it to you at that price, but it is truly a fine line.
