Soon, you'll be able to see inside the Phila Archives

Well, maybe soon isn't the right word; it might be short-sleeve weather again before I get around to writing it.

I contacted the Phila Mint Archives and asked if I could do an article on for an upcoming issue of the Numismatist. With certain restrictions regarding private areas and not photographing any of the security measures, the Director will allow me to interview personnel and photograph where our records dating back to 1792 are maintained and researched. You'll get to see my favorite room, the research "fishbowl" room. Told them it would be a great PR measure and they agreed. I'm planning my visit around mid-December.

For anyone that wants to see the place first-hand, the Archives are at 9th & Chestnut in Phila., open normal business hours daily and the second and fourth Saturdays each month. Best to call ahead, or check with me, about specific items you want to look at and you must be registered to look at the material, a process which take 5 minutes.
