I look at it like this : how many people were born since 1955, besides me ? I am a pretty modern man and the year I was born there was a little ole penny that got doubled in the mint process. What's it worth ? It's modern, of course it is an error, but it's modern.
My youngest daughter was born in 1989, that's pretty modern..... and there is this penny in a proof set the year after her birth (1990 No S LINCOLN cent), that somehow got through the mint in this modern world ..... anyone got a recent price for a sale of that proof coin ? Well, anyway.... that's what I think ~ then there's the ever modern tenth anniversary, cheap ole, 8 dollar an ounce, silver eagle with a "W" mint mark in a gold set dated 1995 ....um such MODERN CRAP. lol
Shocking ? For sure ! but not worth it ? NEVER. Something is worth what someone is willing to pay.
I grew up a blue collar guy, and thirty grand a year was a lot. My nieces and nephews laugh. What does a programmer or analyst start at ? Heck, someone told me that Burger King out east pays like twelve bucks an hour to work at.... I'm ready to send my kid there..... they only pay about 7 where we live (I tell them to have higher aspirations, even while mopping the floor) .
I know we think it is crazy money, but there are people who have spending power that don't care in the bidding game. The one underlying thing is : they have money and if they want it , they will get it ! We all know that it won't be modern tomorrow .

I think that happens often, perhaps daily. My wife sure thinks I'm a "fool" for buying some of my coins... but boy am I a happy fool.
