  • I may be wrong, but I think the metal has been permanently changed. Toning requires a chemical change to occur in the surface of the metal. I don't think you can get it off short of whizzing...

I'm not so sure that's AT. What's the back look like?

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • If you look at the eagle's rt wing up to the "in" you will see why I want to keep this one.

    Ok...I don't get it. What's there?
  • If it's been tourched, it won't dip off.
  • do you have a link for those ( I am not "in the money" enough to do superior auctions but I would like to compare some of the current coins that I have. 2 of them are blatantly at but there are 4 of them that I think are NT...this is one that I cannot tell with yet.

BTW.... there are a couple of things on this coin that are going in with the next few to Mr. Allen.

I don't get your drift either..... are there some significant clash marks? The toning looks suspicious to me, but it's hard to tell from the pics presented....

Actually, if that coin is AT, it's enough to fool me. I think it's NT.

I've seen a lot of driver's on the road with the same symptoms as your Morgan....

..... We like to refer to it as "BLUE HAIR".... I steer clear of toning image

Blatant AT. And no, there were no coins even close to this in the recent Superior auction.

I don't know Morgans at all, but to me this could be NT.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

It wont dip off if it's been torched either.

There's at least one seller on ebay who offered a bunch of raw coins...........morgans, peace, walkers, standing liberty's etc, that all had toning silmilar to the coin posted. That blue to blue is just plain wrong, and they forgot to add on the ice blue and antique gold to finish the color pattern. Color crawls over the devices, no shadowing either. Is that enough?

Looks kosher to me- I don't think it's AT.
