looking for an old (preferably graded) coin

My nephew is 10 years old, and is possibly starting to collect coins. I collect cards and have tried to get him to go that route to no avail. Coins seem to be his interest, and that is fine by me - I believe every kid should have a hobby.
Any ideas on an inexpensive US coin? I plan on giving him a nice firefroof or wooden lockbox or something like that for Christmas (that's what he wants) and would like to have an older graded coin inside for 20 bucks or less.
Please send me a pm if you can help.
Thanks in advance.

Put a post on the BST forum and say your looking for a common date PCGS/ANACS/NGC MS63 morgan for around $35. Someone should sell ya one.

<< <i>Try a Morgan Dollar graded by PCGS, NGC or ANACS. You can get the common dates in mint state for pretty darn cheap. Morgan's have been known to hypnotize many a young numismatist
...or a nice red MS wheat cent. Maybe even a nice 43 steel cent in mint state.
Consider a RAW Morgan.
Giving a graded morgan is like giving a gift that can never be taken out of the package. At 10 years old there may be more "value" in being able to hold and really "see" the coin. Besides at $15-$20 for a common date raw morgan how much harm is there in turning an AU/MS coin into an XF/AU coin. There may even be more value in the knowledge of having a really cool pocket piece.
Just my 2 cents
Ralph
Thanks
A raw mint state 1921 Morgan might do the trick of both worlds.
PM sent.

<< <i>fellas, I sincerely appreciate the help. feel free to ask me about any baseball cards ... just not the new shiny stuff.

Small question. Are newer baseball cards worth anything? I was a big coolector of Mattingly, Canseco and Frank Thomas cards. Do any of these have any value now?
