Hang the controversy. Do you like "motto" or "no motto" better on OLD coins?

It all started in 1864 and now the controversy is raging whether to REMOVE the motto, "In God We Trust" from the coinage.

So.....whaddya like better as far as design on the OLD stuff that had both motto and no motto?

I do like the classic head $5's and $10's but my favorite one is the '08 $10 indian NM because it's rarer and I don't have one yet. The field on the reverse if just huge and it really lets the color of the coin come out. As a passing thought...why do they always refer to the '07 $10 indians as NM...that's the only kind minted but they always call them '07 $10 NM. Things that make me go hummmmmmmm.

mhammerman.....because we're NUTS! Same thing as a 1922 "PEACE" dollar. Is there another type?

It's ingrained. All...hobbies....need to overcomplicate issues so we can have something to say other than "I want another one."

    I just got an 1860-o ....NO MOTTO....dollar.

On higher grade coins more open fields look better.

i think the motto clutters up the coin.

jesus would blush seeing the word god on money.

No major preference in general, but I love no motto Seated coins that have no big marks in that big reverse field above the eagle!

I would say the No Motto coins, because they are more difficult to get and I don't have any.....

I don't think that it should be taken off of our coins today with that said however. Today's coins are basically ugly so it don't matter.

RYK.....I'm glad you took down that picture. There was a possiblity of violating the "separation of "o" and state" there.

You CAN'T be saying that you think the old allegorical and bold depictions of Liberty and fierce eagles is better than a suffragette in a bonnet or a woman with a kid lookin over her shoulder.
