As you say, if you shot it for color and the luster is there . . . it's going 66. I send in a few of these . . . and that color seems to be something they like.
I think it's a lock for 66 and clearly has a shot a 67....where are the hits that are causing folks to say 65 or lower...maybe I am just blind? Certainly it's difficult to say without holding the coin in hand, but I can't see any major hits on either side of the coin that would keep it out of the Gem + range
If I were you I would take Ken and ecos up on there offer to pay for the submission. That's a lock 66 shot 67. I would lean more towards 67. That coins max value would be in an NGC 67*FT holder. I would pay $125 for it in a PCGS MS67FB holder and $175 in an NGC MS67*FT holder.
I think onlyroosies hit the nail on the head.....send it in to NGC and you may get a MS67FT.....send it into PCGS and you may get a MS66FB - and as he states, the NGC is worth more -especially with a STAR. Good luck!
Craig If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!
It is very generous of you guys to offer to cover the submission cost. It all started because I bought this coin from Fairlaneman and we cant agree on a grade I tried a thread like this once before but the pictures sucked so no one could give me any idea.

Wow. Thats some pretty good money. But at this point I am not looking to sell it. More of just wanted it slabbed (so Ken and I can find out the grade and so I can take it places and show it around. That being said, I dont know how to submit to NGC. Is there a trusted board member I could send this to and piggyback on their submission?
p8nt you might as well try it. Another coin, a raw Trade Dollar, that I graded at XF ended up in a AU53 slab. Maybe the old standards I use are outdated.
Holy Hanna......MS67.....and people think PCGS is a tight grading outfit ! I said the coin was 64 maybe a shot 65 and that was not from seeing the coin only with a picture. The coin was mine before Ben got it.

<< <i>MS 66 Possible 67 If the Luster is there as I don't see any in the pic. >>
The picture was aimed more at color than luster for this set.
<< <i>I don't know what that would grade, but I love the original look >>
Thanks

Thanks again
If it goes 66 or higher I will pay one half of the grading fee. Normal submission only.
I still say 65 at best but who knows you just may get a bump for the nice color that the coin has.
Ken
Maybe 66. Can't tell about the bands. Nice coin.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Great lookig coin!
I'll back Fairlaneman's offer: if it goes 66 or higher, I will pay the other half of the grading fee (normal submission only).
Way to Go P8nt!

I better go back to Grading 101 and take it over.

Mint State Sixty Four!
TC71
it was a liner full band, and PCGs didn't give it the designation...
It is a coin that I can agree with either call, it is that close...
none-the-less, it is a lovely toner and MS67 is Ultra Gem!!!!!
