2 Gold Coins! $10 and $20 Dollar Pieces!

Hey again,
A friend just asked me to value a small collection he had. Most of what you has is US Mint stuff which is easy.
I'm a little stumped on these 2 coins, because I don't deal in Gold.
I'm trying to find Grades for each one and Prices for each one.
Are they worthing sending to ANACS?
Any Help would be GREAT!
Thanks,
SM

  • From those pictures the first looks 62ish and the second 63ish. Nice coins and definitly worth slabbing.

I would say worth slabbing, away of maximizing the selling potential.....

  • I agree with DB on the grades (judging from the pics) and I think ANACS is a good idea.

The benefit of slabbing is to remove the possibility, esp. for the 20, of being a counterfeit - of which there are plenty, esp. 1904

ANACS is a good choice 'cause it's cheap, and not much delta in the sales price between common date gold in PCGS/NGC slab and ANACS.

Both appear to be MS; ANACS can be a little harsh on gold.

ANACS gold brings less. Might as well slab as PCGS. I would agree that 60-62 for the $20 Lib and 62-63 on the $10 Lib. Huge spread on the $10 LIb so certification is money in your pocket on a 63.

  • My grading guesses are 61 and 61. A lot of chatter on the first coin, luster and color on the second is not great. If you are selling, I'd send them into ANACS first. The bodybag can be caprious and is deadly to the wallet. In my opinion these two are not high enough grade to warrant sending to PCGS, given the extra time (time=risk) and higher fees and that dreaded bodybag. Hopefully some of the gold specialists will weigh in. Their votes would get a "10" weight while mine might warrant a "1" weighting.

    61 for the $20 Liberty
    Between 62 & 63 for the $10 Liberty
