Did the success of the Morse collection, etc. in Dallas prove you don't need an association with a b
I believe that the Morse collection and the other Heritage auctions were moved from Palm Beach to Dallas at the last minute because of the hurricane issues. It seems that the entire Heritage auction was a blockbuster and record prices were obtained. Does this prove that in today's marketplace (with internet bidding, online catalogs, etc.), it just does not matter (or matters less) to have an auction associated with a major show?
Being the 10,000 pound gorilla of the coin industry, maybe this is a way for Heritage to start flexing some of its muscle. I imagine that it is more efficient for them to hold auctions in Dallas, rather than all over the country. Does anyone think Heritage will just say "enough" and decree that all future auctions will be done in Dallas, whether people like it or not? As collectors we would be powerless to do anything, and I am sure people will eventually come around and accept the fact that Dallas will be the center of the numismatic universe. What do you think?

Edit: Uh-oh. TDN does not agree.
Heritage is still probing this question as they continue to have sales in Dallas. Next one is in December and does have some decent material. I for one would consider flying in to view some of the lots that interest me if time permitted.
