Coin store around New York City and Jersey City.

Hi Friends,
I finally got the chance to come to USA(i am in jersey city for 6 weeks .... flying back on christmas evening back to India), so my thirst for USA coins will end little bit as i can pick nice coins from here. Can anyone suggest me good coins shops in and around jersey city and new york city.

Thanks,
Nanda

Do NOT miss the Parsippany, New Jersey Coin Show on the 1st Sunday of every month! It's at the PAL Building on Baldwin Rd. off of Rt.46 East Bound. Assuming you will be East of Parsippany,
take Rt.80 West to exit 47 which will put you on Rt.46 West. Just before the 3rd traffic light, exit to the right which is a jug handle for Baldwin Rd. At the stop sign turn left onto Baldwin and
go straight across Rt.46. Once you've made that left turn, Burger King will be on the right and The PAL Building will be down the street a few hundred feet on the left.

It's a fairly big show and always something good to be had. I think it starts at 9am but it begins to thin out around 1ish.

Edit- Just noticed you said "Jersey City"! You might want to check Mapquest once you're here for a more direct route from Jersey City. Again- It's well worth going to.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • I stay near Groove Street Path station or Exchange Place Path Station. Can u tell me the dirrection from these locations.

  • Turnpike north to 15W. This puts you on 280 west. Exit 1 is Edwards rd.
Take this and turn left onto 46West. A couple miles use the Baldwin Rd.
jughandle and like ms70 said you'll see it on the left.

Ye Olde Curiositie Shoppe on South Orange Ave. in South Orange
    is an interesting place.
  • Jeff at American coin and stamp is a decent guy. Gets some very nice coins from time to time.

Because Manhattan is so expensive, the only coins stores that I know of are either high-end or rip-off places. I would definitely recommend a visit to Stack's, just to say you've been there, if nothing else.

American Coin and Stamp in Clifton is OK, although I've never warmed up to the owner. Arnold Saslow's Ye Olde Curiositie Shoppe is in South Orange. He's a bit grumpy, but will warm up quickly if he realizes that he's talking to an interested collector.

If you have access to a car, I would highly recommend going to the Parsippany shows (Dec. 4 or Jan. 8). I would also recommend the White Plains show on Jan. 20 and 21. The New York International on Jan 13 and 14 is the place to be for high-end world coins.

If you have the time, a trip to Baltimore (Dec. 9 and 10) would be a trip to one of the largest coin shows in the US.

If you can let us know what you're looking for, we can give you more specific advice.
