Cool new features at the ANR website!-- A searchable auction database and some RSS thing that comple

I always knew there would be a benefit to my hitting the "refresh" button repeatedly at the ANR site all day long. image

I just noticed that ANR now has a searchable database of its auction archives! It looks pretty cool.

Also, there is some RSS program/feature where you can get updates directly from ANR. By using this feature, I may not have to injure my index finger by pressing the refresh button all day long, but I am completely confused as to how to use this "RSS stuff". I downloaded some program, but I am not sure how to get the ANR feed. Maybe one of the techies on the boards can help.

Check it out!

Thanks guys! It makes it a LOT easier than searching each catalog one by one.

This is helpful. A good improvement would be to allow searching by denomination and date.

Use either Netscape or Firefox. Either program will automatically detect and allow you to subscribe to the RSS feed.

That's a great step for them. I'm sure eventually they'll add features. Heritage's auction search is better...but I have a feeling ANR will catch up real soon.

If you click on "advanced search" over on the right side, you can search by denomination and date, as well as other search characteristics.

The button is small and will be bigger soon. I missed it when I saw it go live today too. We'll keep fixing and improving it until it's as good as it can be.

    Yes, that works - thanks.

Now, can you arrange the search results in order by date minted instead of by sale image

Edited to add: D'oh! Just click on "description" in the results listings.

There may be a flaw in the search engine. I tried a search of 1896-S Barber dimes and no results were found. The Kennywood sale had one.

I went into the advanced search and found four 96-S dimes, including the Kennywood one.

I'm not sure what the problem is. Some of my searches in the advanced section return results, but others do not.

I've been fiddling with it some today too, and it's not yet perfect. Our numismatists and our computer folks are working on it. I bet it'll be more efficient soon.

It's already a lot better -- a lot easier for me to do research now too!

While I can't make promises, I'm happy to hear suggestions.

TTT, as a lot of people apparently are not yet aware of ANR's auction archives capabilities and informationimage
  • i have to say that auction archives are the #1 reason i go to some of these sites, namely heritage and teletrade that still have hands down the best price and auction archives.

  • Thank you for the tip, Longacre.

I regularly add some ANR auction results into my database from info published in coin periodicals, but with this new development, I have full ANR auction archives at my fingertips.

    Ain't the Internet great?
