If this is a genuine coin, I have a hard time believing that the high bid of $560 would meet the reserve...

I spent several minutes comparing the photo to a genuine one. If nothing else, it gave me an excuse to look at mine. A couple things look different, but a lot also looks the same. Hard to say from a photograph.

I think it can be genuine. A genuine copy of a photo from somewhere else, that is.

Either the person selling the coin is a cheat, or they are inexperienced. The reserve does seem low, but on two different occasions i spoke with people selling 55 DD' and they both did so without a reserve because they felt the coin was so rare that they were going to get a fair price. There are tons of auctions on EBAY that throw in the titles of grading companies to get extra attention, but i was pretty sure that the EBAY policy on that was a no-no unless the coins are truly graded by said company. The feedback rating on the seller is 75% and their ranking is what, 2, 3? Certainly doesnt invite confidence. image

Usually people scamming like this don't even bother setting a reserve. It costs more in eBay fees, and if you're selling vapor, why bother?

He lists his name, address and phone number in the auction. You should give him a call now that the reserve has been met

I just sent an email to him with the link to coinfacts and asked him how he was selling That coin.

googled the phone number....comes back to a female with a completely different address. San Ysidro, CA 92173

What makes you think the guy is using his own bank account or credit card?

He says he doesn’t know how to get a coin graded but know exactly what it would grade?

The high bidder now has a feedback score of zero, has been on ebay since 2003. I gotta start cutting coin pics from sites...................

Also, have a look at the user name of the bid retraction at the bottom of the bid page!!

Amazing. It's okay to swipe a photo from another site and claim it came out of a cookie jar.
