Received my new Barber half in the mail today
I just picked up my latest acquisition from the post office today, a really nice XF-45, 1915-P Barber half. The coin was graded by ANACS, (I usually stick with NGC and PCGS certified coins), but I have to say, this is one of the nicest and most original looking of my XF Barber halves. The coin is free of any noticeable hits, has some underlying luster (doesn't show in the scan), and has that dirty, crusty look that just screams "original". The coin is way nicer in hand than what the image shows.........the white spot above the "T" in Trust, is only on the image and not on the coin.

Way to go!
I have had some luck myself with ANACS slabs - mainly the older versions (about 5- 7 years ago) - got a nice upgrade on a crossover to PCGS on a SLQ type I. ( I cracked it before sending) Bought it sight unseen on Teletrade and it's a true beauty. Just wish I had had that kind of luck with all my Teletrade purchases.
I was at the PAN show a coupla weeks ago, and the raw Barbers were all VG-F at best, otherwise, there were a few cert. MS65 blazers - wayyyyy outta my range! I can see how tough an original set of Barber halves in XF-AU is gonna be to put together. But I'm gonna keep pluggin' away! Congrats on the '15!! Chuck

I especially love the toning in the fields. Agreed, it screams “LOOK AT ME, I’M ORIGINAL!”
Nice score!

Was that a JJ Teaparty score from last week? How could you keep that part a secret??
Thanks for sharing the pic's and clueing the rest of us in on the new stock they got in at the time. Mine (1909) is not in yet.

The scans are a bit darker I think, than they appear to the naked eye.

Nice additions!
Glad you got the 1915 you mentioned last week; it sure is a nice coin ! As Tyler said, its an extremely hard coin to locate in the grade XF45. I bought a couple of 1915-P's from JJ Teaparty myself; one's in an ANACS 25 holder and the other's in a PCGS 55 holder. ( Have not cracked out the ANACS coin for my raw book yet.)
Its just my luck that I was without power for a week ( due to Hurricane Wilma ) when JJ Teaparty had that group of choice Barber halves up for sale. Otherwise...
Tyler,
Also some very nice pick up's.

I also picked up a decent addition for my raw book tonight on Ebay. I'll try and attach a link ... maybe someday my computer mentor (Tyler) can instruct me on how to just add the image and not just the attachment.

Nice images and you suck!
And..
You suck too Dan!
If I didn't pick up the 1915, the 1900-s was definitely on my list. Financially I couldn't swing both, but I loved the look of the 1900-s......I knew it was you who bought it.
Mike,
Nice pickup on the 1901........ has a real nice look to it.

All I did last night was pick up the 1901-P ANACS AU50 and the 1912-S NGC VF30 from Teletrade alst night. The 01-P should slide real nicely over to PCGS as an XF45 for my set. The VF30 will probably cross as a VF25. It's an upgrade but I really liked the toning.

<< <i>Drooling! All 4 are great, but I'm liking the 09-o the best...that is my kind of Barber! (I bet you will never find a 1909-O 25c to match it!) >>
You're dead on about the 09-0 quarter..........but I keep looking though.

Craig, call Gail Watson or Liz Coggan and give them your want list. They were invaluable help to me when assembling my Barber sets. Good luck.
Happy hunting everyone !
