High grade 1964 CAM/DCAM Proof Halves are............

.................IMHO simply stunning in appearance.

I am looking at a high grade 1964 CAM proof (unfortunately not AH) I recently picked up in an original proof set. What a beautiful example of the highest expression of the minter's fine art.

I know that many view Kennedies as "modern crap", but coins like this are of the highest quality MC. As a treat for the day, please post pics of your best 1964 CAM/DCAM halves; and give us your opinion on these coins.

Here's a nice half a buck; not in my collection yet; but someday.I have some of the other offspring. Pop 1/0, PCGS 0/0.

  • I wish the picture of that AH wasn't a scan... it just doesn't do the coin justice... image

Phillyjoe, great coin, some would say the Holy Grail of Kennedies. I bet it looks alot better in hand than it looks in the picture. The picture just does not do it justice. I wonder how it would compare to the PCSG 68DCAM that Russ made some time ago? Maybe Russ can chime in and give his opinion?

The coin I posted of course belongs to someone else and I only have a scan to go by. It was graded a long time ago as you can tell from the cert number. I , myself, see spots on the coin. Russ has a 68 D/C Acct. Hair that is at least as nice or better than the one I posted. My guess is that Russ has the nicer coin and the Dr. who owns the 69 U/C has the nicer plastic. Hopefully. Russ will post his with a little nudge.image

Great pictures all; I particularly like the picture of the 1964 half posted by Russ yesterday at 6:06 p.m. The devices on both sides of that coin are about the heaviest, most uniform I have seen on a 1964 proof half. To bad it does not belong to me.

This pales in comparison to the Master's coin's but I'll post it anyway. Besides, I got it from Him last year............
