    Quite a risk buying a red X.

  • Nice looking coin.

Do you think it is accurated graded?
I am a Morgan beginner, still learning on grading.

Numismatics: Thanks for the compliment. I really won't know if it is accurately graded until its in hand. With the older ANACS holders, usually the grade is dead on if not slightly conservative. I'll let you know when it arrives.

Nice Morgan dollar and old holder.

Looks nice. contrast in those pics has been bumped a bit too much. I would bet that the toning will be a little less dramatic than the pics would suggest.

anablep: Your new 1900-O looks very attractive. Please let us know how she looks in hand when you receive her.

Baj: That 1885-S is really pretty!! The toning makes it look quite distinctive compared to blast white examples. The beautiful brown peripheral rim-toning reminds me of many Morgans that I've seen in either old "fat" NGC holders or ANACS holdered coins.

    I'm assuming it's either an MS-65 or a very high-end 64. Very Pretty!! image

Headed back to the SLC show right now . . one dealer there has 25-30 of these older ANACS dollars . . .and the grading is absolutely conservative. 3-4 of the 64s are lock 5s . . but he wants $100 for them and knows. The PLs are sooooo close to DMPL (bought one of those) . . .and ALL have that violet top rim. Regardless of date . . every one. I have seen this for years on ANACS dollars . . . . is this a reaction to the insert??? Cool toning . .and very beautiful on all 25 or so here in SLC . . .

  • I have a hunch that is gonna be a dynamite coin in hand. Thats a scan and it makes all coins look washed out. I think youll be pleasantly suprised.....Mike

Thanks guys. I've been waiting for a nice 1900-O to "wash up on the bay of E"™ for some time now. As soon as I saw this one I jumped on it. Now I can't wait to get it!

BTW Drunner: You are absolutely correct about the older ANA holders. Something is going on in there with the insert. Each one I have and I have seen at shows exhibits some type of purple/blue/red toning above Liberty and below the eagle. I love it!!
