Here's my report: Arrived in Vegas at 4:30 yesterday; waited 40 minutes for a cab to Mandalay Bay; was told bourse closed at 5; met with Chris and Melissa Karstedt, who said Coinguy had already gone home; ate dinner with Boiler and Lakesamman; they said it was a small show, with 60% of the tables taken by gun dealers; waited 15 minutes for a cab to airport; flew out at 9:30.image

    Here's my report:

I almost sold a coin to Rick, but I left before he arrived, so I couldn't (even) show it to him.image

Other than that - there were a decent number of dealers there, but not much public, other than in the guns section. I was able to do a fair amount of both buying and selling. Not surprisingly, the nice coins in the Bowers sale did just fine.

Yet another show with no public.

I was there on Thursday and Friday. Contrary to what Mark observed, I thought that public attendance was very good, at least much better than the last two times this show has been held. Most of the major players attended, and selling was fluid and easy to do. Unfortunately I was mildly dissapointed with the material available for purchase.

I did notice that public attendance was excellent for the antique arms show adjacent to the coin show. The Professional Bullriding Championships probably helped out with that.

I believe that this show has great potential for the future, and I look forward to attending again the next time.

On a slightly off topic sidenote, I got my two-night hotel stay comped at THEHotel at Mandalay Bay, but don't ask how that happened...

I went there for set up and the Proof Indians in the auction. Got some good stuff, but was not too busy on the bourse. I don't like to set up there because there never seems to be much public, its a good wholesale show and dealers don't usually come to buy my Indians. So I go to buy not sell. I get distracted in Vegas, I like to play Black Jack. I lost at the tables at first and then found a client-friend who is a professional player who is fairly good at reading the deck. So I followed his betting and won all my money back and a little more. Then went to the auction.

Actually the Tucson show was the same weekend so I flew back that night to get to the show on Friday. There was good traffic and lots of "buzz". Not too many larger name dealers. I sold close to $100,000 on Friday (a few gem 1856's and 1877's will do that). One guy cleaned me out of my beautiful blue-toned Proof Indians. I'll have to talk to coinguy to get more.
