I am beyond enraged; nearly shaking with fury.

So I log onto the US Mint's website to gawk at how much the platinum coins are going for ($210.00 for a tenth oz!?) when I see this on the splash page:

Say whaaaaa? The three cent silver coin is the tiniest coin? In what upside-down whacked alternate universe is that in? What kind of hard core drugs has Peter been doing lately, and where can I get some? Am I crazy? Is the entire gold dollar series (with a 13mm diameter vs. a 14mm diameter for the three cent silver) from 1849 to 1889 some sort of mass numismatic hallucination? Does the US Mint even know its own history!?

It depends. Can they make money from it? image

Diameter is one way to measure "tiny". Size can also be measured by mass (weight).

A three cent silver weighs either 0.8 or 0.75 grams. Gold dollars weigh over a gram and a half.

PS type II and III gold dollars, at 15 mm, are also larger in diameter than 3CS coins. image

The Type I gold dollar (1849-1854) is the smallest US coin at 13mm based on size. The silver three cent is the lightest US coin based on weight.

I assume the bird is ignoring Darkside coins, where one can find a gold 1/32 ducat at 5mm and 0.1 gram.

Peter needs a good lawyer to precisely word his remarks. Perhaps one of our fine forum members can help the bird.

Birdbrain is a government worker; he doesn't feel the need for any lawyer.
