Searching through cents..
I recently got 100 rolls from a local bank to search for some non-satin finish coins to send in to get slabbed. I have run across from very nice, nick and ding free coins, but they have that light spotting that you can only see at an angle... what kind of hit will this put on a 2005 cent? Thanks.
Have only found 3 coins so far out of 20 rolls worthy of sending in... (going for 68 or better)

It is quite rare to get any grade over MS66 (business strikes), but with even the slightest spotting, don't be disappointed should they come back MS65 or below. And don't be surprised if they come back Satin Finish, either. Happened to me

My question would be why bother paying so much to have brand new MS66 coins slabbed? They couldn't be worth more than a buck each.

I agree, I'm guessing a one to two point deduction, but I do not submit many moderns.

<< <i>tlhoy has it right - those are spots from the planchet wash. They can probably be safely removed, but I've never bothered trying.

Well I am hoping to hit at least a 67... You have to be optimistic... I was one of the makers of a 66 non-satin Bison... I guess being optimistic goes a long way

Wow I guess I didnt know anyone sent in modern coins, I guess it makes sense getting them slabbed right away...maybe not IDK?? How much do it cost to have them slabbed, I have never sent in any coins before, I'm kind of a beginner collector.
Trinketts- Those spots on the coin are from the wash and do not affect grade much, so long as they are not too detracting, i.e. on Lincoln's face , large spots in field or on dates and legends that cause the eye to focus on it. Keep in mind the four things to first observe when submitting : Reflectivity, Strike, Luster and Eye Appeal. Then put at least a 10x loupe to it under good light.
With that said, the coin showing will probably only make MS65 because of the number of spots.
Coinnut86- Costs for grading economy is $14.... and speedy service can go up to $100. There is a wide range in between, too. Errors are $40.
You can also send in bulk (same coin x 100) for bulk price ... $8 per coin, plus shipping and insurance. But there are rules to all of that, too.
