Your Thoughts on this 1958 Washington Quarter

What do you think? Unfortunately the scan does not do this coin justice.

Yep. It looks like a 1958 quarter. image

    Thoughts?

    Oh.

It looks like a purty nice 1958 quarter. I would suspect it was cleaned if I didn't happen to own a cheap scanner that makes pictures look like that. I'll bet that sucker has lotsa luster we ain't seein' in the scan, right?

    It's dripping with luster!

Hey, are you calling my scanner cheap? image
I wish I could take good pics with my digital camera but I haven't figured out how to do it yet.

I ain't callin' yer scanner cheap, but it is under suspicion, since it produces the same sort of washed-out images my Canon does. image

I need to resurrect my ancient Memorex- it was a FAR better scanner but something with its software clashed with my puter at home. Plus, it is nowhere near as portable as the cheapo Canon- it's one of those old, thick, boxy jobs. It would scan slabbed coins and I could even tilt slabs to capture colorful toning on coins.

The Canon won't scan slabbed coins even when they are flat on the glass. That little bit of plastic between the scanner bed and the coin causes the image to blur. The old Memorex would scan stuff almost an inch off the glass.

Me thinks you should get a digital camera. The coin looks great though.

    MS65.

Looks like 2 big marks on neck - scratches? Cut on forehead at hairline, is that a clster of small tics on forehead? Crls look a bit mushy, indicating less than MS67 strike. Is there some field rub behind head? Reverse looks better. Hard to grade from a scan but that's what I see or imagine I'm seeing.

Hard to tell from a scan. MS65 maybe?
