How often does PVC get by NGC and PCGS?

Are they pretty good at spotting it and not slabbing coins that have it?

Do you check your stored coins on occasion to be sure that no PVC spots have developed over time?

I dunno about The Big Two, but ANACS once bodybagged a coin of mine for PVC. That's right! ANACS! A bodybag! image

It was a gorgeous MS67-ish Dutch silver coin. I never did see anything on it.

If the coin is toned they might miss a tiny spot or two but on white coins I think they will note the PVC. Maybe they have an employee with a good nose smell the coin for PVC.image

Both services are pretty keen to catching PVC contamination on most coins.

I've never seen one get through.

Had one BB'd a few years back that took a 10-X loup and about a million candle power to see it. I was able to remove it and it did slab on the next go round a few months later.

Good old olive oil for a few weeks followed by acetone baths.

If the damage is significant, it's pretty much a lost cause.

I, too, have had ANACS bodybag for PVC. Couldn't see it, but it was their call... I guess.
