Please help me with these coins!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone, I posted these coins about 6 months ago but since then we went to Africa for work and I totally lost all the info you guys gave me about them! These coins are actually my brother and sister in laws, they are building a new house in the middle of no where Kentucky, and before they could build their new house they had to tear down the old one first, and in the process they found these 2 coins hidden in an old tylenol tin inside the old wall!!!!!!!!! Anyway, they dont have any money at all and are looking to sell the coins, but before I can sell them I need to know what they are! I am going to post them over on the buy sell trade place on this website. Any help you could give me would be great! I am going to try to post the pics here in this post, if that doesnt work then i will put a link to their website that has the pics on it. Thanks in advance, Jeffreywebsite pics of the coins.

I couldnt get the pics to work so please just click on the link to see them on the website!

It looks like you have a 1910 Indian Head quarter eagle ($2 1/2 gold piece) and a 1900 Liberty Head half eagle ($5 gold piece). Both coins are what collectors consider "common." The quarter eagle contains about one eighth ounce of pure gold (0.121 oz.) and the half eagle contains about one quarter ounce of pure gold (0.242 oz.)

If an expert can't remove the "black gunk" on the coins, then you might have coins that would sell, not so much for their appeal to a collector, but for their gold content.

Although no one can give you an accurate price estimate without examining the coins in person, you might (depending on the price of gold) be able to sell the quarter eagle for about $125 or so and the half eagle for about the same $125; more if the black gunk can be removed easily.

DO NOT attempt to remove the black gunk yourselves!

Neat story, with the Tylenol tin and all.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
