Probable Scam Ebay Coin Auction -- Images appear to be pictures of coin book photos!!

Take a look at this listing:

1873-CC $10 Gold Scam

The image of the coin appears to be a picture of a photo in a coin book!! image Does anyone recognize this plate coin, and what book it came from (I don't)? I asked the seller for additional images of the "coin" -- we will see what he says!!

Also, look at some of the sellers other auctions -- nice photos of other coin pictures as well! image

The message below was sent by the seller, after a forum member informed him he could get in trouble for trying to scam people by listing coins he didn't really have:

"THESE ARE NOT BOOK PHOTOS THEY ARE ACTUAL COINS ..I WILL EMAIL PICS OF ME WITH THEM IN MY HAND...I HAVE SOLD THOUSANDS WORTH OF COINS...MORGANS...BARBER DIMES.PENNIES.ECT...JUST CHECK MY RECORD"

The forum member indicated he would be looking forward to receiving the new images and again warned the seller. image

I live about 20 miles from this joker. I asked him if it was possible to pick up an item in person if I won it. Since it is a postage stamp, I bet I'll have to use the mail.

Didn't take long to get a response:

<< <i>sorry ebay doesn't allow cash deals..this is a stamp worth alot of money it is best if it is shipped and insured due to ebay policies..thanks i could discount shipping though >>

    image

With shipping of $1 and insurance of $1 on a stamp that could easily be worth over $500, I think I'll pass.

Have him send you an image of the reverse of the stamp so you can see the gum, or a photo of him holding the stamp with tongs. That will make his listing go "poof"!
