Numismatist is a complimentary term (typically unlike the terms wannabe, newbie, or even dealer, according to some). So the learned numismatist crossed the road to get to the third side.

Because it was worth more in a PCGS holder.

  • The sun had reflected off of something, something shiny. But what, perhaps an old coin he thought, The last time he saw such a glint of light like that was the day his life changed forever. When was that now, he tried hard to remember as he stayed focused on that shiny light, flickering in the afternoon sun, beckoning to him. Oh thats right, she was sitting at the cafe, it was his first trip abroad, Paris is ggod they say, if you don't mind the Parisians. She was going to prove to be different, special. That's right the glint was in her eye, as she peered over her dark sunglasses. Excuse me sir, she said, in a soft French accent. i couldn't beleive it, why would such a divine creature speak to me, wh taluck, what would I say back? Um yes I barely managed too stammer, uh what ca nI do fo ryou? She pointed to a small coin on the street near where I stood, I beleive you dropped something. I looked down, and at my feet was a shiny coin, It wasn't mind, but I picked it up anyhow, thanking her. I put the coin in my pocket and too nervous to continue my labored conversation, I looked away and startyed to walk off. She stopped me, and asked are you an American, I was glad to have been able to continue my akward conversation. Maybe it was the caffeine, but she continued on, my gradfather collects them you know. Collects what I asked, Coins she said, I remember as a little girl , he used to pull out his little treasure box, and show me all the old pieces he had, British, Italian, of course French, and a lot of American coins. My favorite was the onbe with the lady walking with her flowing robes, so pretty. I couldn't beleive my luck, I actually had something to talk about, with one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. A walking Liberty half dollar I said. She smiled, I looked away. You know soemthing about coins, do you collect them, do you have many? So it began, first a coffe, then a dinner, It's amazing lookng back, how one person notincing a shiny object can lead to such grand conclusion. I remember the wedding as if it were yesterday, I rember the watching the kids gorw old, I remember when she became ill, too ill in fact to see our grandchildren as they had moved away. I enjoyed watching her show off our coins to our grandshildren, and how each time, she was like that little girl sharing the love of her granfathers collection. The coin I had found when I met the love of my life had been worn so thin, it looked more like aslug than a coin, family and friends wondered why it was so important for me to leave it her final resting place, they always wondered, but never asked what was so special about that little metal slug. To me it was more than a coin, more tha na symbol, it was the fate that brought us together.

So now I see another shiny object, another glint of hope, this numismatist, would cross the road the ocean and the heavens to see my love peering over her darkened sunglasses once again and to hear her sirens song of a voice, and the gleem in her eye as she showed off our colletion to family and friends. Why did the numismatist cross the road...for love.

  • To get to the other side, but to call it a road is greatly exaggerating, it was more of a extremely-fine path maybe at most a route 45, definately not an I-70.
Some even said it was worn due to sweeping.
  • He saw the chicken drop a morgan dollar.

  • The Numismatist..Well, this is a very deep subject and the Numismatist knew he could get mard in deep mud when crossing the road but he took his chances...he knew what the coin was and wanted to get it's true grade, for he had spent years and years looking for this particular coin in this pristene state...though there are only a handful in existance which are known to be in very rich hands. He thought there had to be justice in the Coin World, for a small insignificant guy like himself, so he crossed the road to find a true and honest grading system that would allow him an honestly graded coin...and prove to the world a small insignificant guy like himself, could honestly be treated fairly by the coin grading world and could compete with those with greater wealth. Then he could prove to the Coin World that there was indeed a true Grading system that would prove to the Collecting Community that all Collectors would be created equal.

Nothing to do with being a Numismatist. Just a person that was drinking to much at one bar, got thrown out and was on the way to another one which just happens to be on the other side of the road.
Now just for the fun of it has anyone noticed how many answers stated HE, indicating that a Numismatist is male. If your wife is going to pick out the winner, I wouldn't be surprised if she notices that and has a few words to you about that.
Actually, you never stated to CROSS OVER, therefore indicating the possibility that there was no completion in the crossing of the road so all of our answers are meaningless. This would further indicate that I should go back to the beers I've alread been involved with.

Great coins are not cheap, and cheap coins are not great!
  • Dear Mrs 2Bucks .

The correct answer is that the numismatist needed to cross the road to feed the parking meter again , which will allow for more time to search for die varieties , before Cherrypickers II is released .

From the coin lot that I win , I will keep few for myself , with the remainder to be handed out to young numismatists at my next coin show .

As a token of appreciation to being selected as the winner , I would mail you a bottle of wine or a pound of coffee .

Please specify your selection ( white, red, blush, regular ,decaf etc.)in a private email . ( If the feds allow interstate shipment of wine)

    Thank you .
