RJ, I don't know about this Marla seller, as I am kind of new here and didn't research the seller. I do see a couple of very odd feedbacks as Glen has pointed out, though she claims her grandfather had a coin store in Rochester, she sure doesn't sell too many coins. Perhaps the will was split several ways ?????? I don't know and I am afraid to partake in such an auction, but that gold being advertised is a gorgeous specimen in the 20G range.

I'm sure somebody will recognize it and sleuth out the source of the original picture...

<< <i>We DONOT accept pay pal payments due to their BBB Report in just 36 months.
The following data concerns complaints processed by the BBB since the firm's file was opened on January 12, 2000 or over the last 36 months, whichever is less.

PayPal, Inc. has had 3820 complaints. >>

    Out of how many transactions?

And our friend Marla who is discussing PayPal has had 4 complaints out of 48 transactions, if we count the two neutrals from somebody who apparently didn't get what they paid for.

    Ahh, the irony...

Tom, that was the funniest......it is why I said it was "cute". I really do believe this person is naive, at best, and certainly hope they are on the up and up. But like lordmarcovan said:

I'm sure somebody will recognize it and sleuth out the source of the original picture...

I realize it's early and I'm probably being obtuse, but WTH does "the log says half eagle" mean?
I looked at the picture of the coin about three times and I'll be doggone if I see a log.

Maybe if pieces of wood are talking to this seller, she really does need something to make sure her urine test comes back clean....
    How 'bout them DAWGs!

They have a story on a previous auction

    story

I can not tell if this seller actually has these or is being scammed

there are groups that scam newby sellers saying they are too busy to list, and send pictures to have them list for them - they sell, ollect money, send money to scammer - no coin and nieve seller and buyer left empty

If I was interested, I would ask them for all of the letters and numbers on the slab, and do a certification check

It is odd they start 15 cent items at $6 and $15K items at $6

I e-mailed the seller last night asking to see a pic of the slab. No reply so far.

I asked her to list the cert. number. Wonder it that is going to happen?

I'm certain it's a scam, as is the 1807 $5 listing. Even if the seller comes up with a good cert. number, it could easily be from on line images of a legitimate listing.

I tried to report this possible scam to eBay and learned how complicated their system is. I called 3 times and was told to fill out their form online. Their form online is terrible and I don't believe I got through to them. I guess they don't care if somebody looses $15K.

    Reply as follows:

After speeking to my boyfriend who is a Richmond City Police Officer he advised against it. Any transactions made must be done through BidPay or money order to protect both partys of the transactions. Also to meet a stranger with a coin of such value isnt a smart idea as im sure you can understand.

    My retort;

I may have just fallen off the turnip truck, but I didn't bump my head on the way down.

That's pretty funny, since, as I noted in another thread about this liar and scammer, she told me that her boyfriend was an attorney.image

Edited to add: Although two of her listings were ended, she currently has two other valuable gold coins up for sale. See this thread for a partial discussion and some good entertainment: LINK

Here are the two currently active valuable gold coin listings of hers:

    scam 1
    scam 2

I think this is the legitimate owner/listing of the first coin above:
