  Several methods can be used...First, using a can of compressed air, blow the loose particles off the lens, if any. Then use a good lens cleaning solution and a VERY soft cloth to finish the cleaning. Quality optics tend to scratch easily. The supplies you need can be found at any good camera shop. You might possibly find some good stuff at Wal Mart in their camera section.

  First rule of cameras is always put a filter (UV, sky blue, etc.) in front of the lens. That way, if something happens to it (scratch, etc.) all you have to do is replace a $20 filter
