Does the grade on this 24-S Peace dollar look right?

This 24-S Peace dollar looks nice, but the rim ding on the lower reverse looks troubling. What do you think?

If you mean the damage on the rim, I think that is a nick from another coin landing on it. I have several Morgan dollar and Peace dollars graded by PCGS, ANACS and NGC with similar nicks.

The rim hit bothers me, but I don't think it keeps the coin from a 64. In fact, even if that mark were in a more conspicuous place, I still think it's small enough that the coin need not be penalized, grade-wise.

That said, there are many coins (and this is one of them) which I think are accurately graded, but which I still don't want to own, due to a flaw or characteristic that distracts me.

It looks 64 with absolutely no chance of an upgrade. IMO

Very tough date, I'd grade this one, based on the pictures, as a high end 63 or weak 64 due to the reverse, the obverse appears MS65 to me, look at that cheek! If it has the luster it appears to have and an above average strike (65ish on both counts, may "flash" in hand) then I guess one could justify 64. The gash on the eagle bothers me more than the rim ding but both are on the reverse and this coin has a nice front

The total number of marks is small and the strike is good, so I agree with the 64 (it has a super obverse).
