Not only does the top pic have better eye appeal but it shows the surfaces better. The bottom pic seems to hide some of the imperfections like the contacts on the knee. Nice coin!

The top pic has better color (or does it? I don't have the coin in hand) but the bottom pic tends to not exaggerate the marks as the first one does.

Based upon the date/issue, my guess is that the bottom images are more true to life?

I like the top pic.........assuming that it shows the true luster...........also, I am glad that this wasn't a pic of some dogs.

I do like the "X" pattern of lustre better in the top pic than the "/" pattern (single light source?) on the bottom.

Both are nice, but the top has more even illumination, and a nice cartwheel lustre. It tends to pick up some of those rose gold highlights.....assuming the actual coin has a rose tint to it.

This may be a dumb question, however, are you going for the actual look of the coin through your eyes or the best possible picture you can create ?

Here's the deal. The top pic was taken by Mike Printz...perhaps the best in the biz. The bottom were taken by me...much less sophisticated gear and slightly tweaked to adjust for lighting issues.

They both have qualities, but personally I think Mike's are more realistic. Mine make the coin look better. I guess if I were catalogueing these for my auction, I would use MY pics.

On the first one I like the Bottom marginally better because I can see the stuff in the fields better. On your second compariosn I like the top better for the same reason.

bottom is more creamy lusterous and even colored

the top makes the coin look like just a nice ms65

the bottom shows the true pop of a better date saint in a nice solid ms66 grade!! with tremendous eye appeal
