The pics incorporate about 8 different stops of exposure. I'm still learning but I'm finding some cool stuff to do with this.

I'm using a Kodak Z740 PNS camera. It's been the most fun digital camera I've ever had.

Beautiful double eagle!! My eagle is a bit on the bright side but it's hard to flatten it because of the luster. Most monitors I see trend too brightly in images, though.

One light? Lighting is a little harsh for me, a bit too much contrast.

Fact is that Mike Printz took the pic....here is the pic I took...I used photoshop for contrast and I added a tough of yellow to correct the image.

With GOLD natural sunlight casts too much blue.

The technique isn't about the lighting position but about a high definition file. I create a 32 bit picture with a dynamic range far greater than a single pic can do. I'm just learning how to turn it back into a good 8 bit pic.

But the Eagle has too much "flash" especially the right top quadrant where I would 'guess" your light source is.

It's all trial and error. You will get them very accurate if this is just the start!

The copper picture looks unnatural color-wise. The silver pic looks nice. The gold pic is far too overexposed and the lustre drowns out the surface detail. All three pics look overexposed.

Cool. I'll try that and maybe a couple other things tomorrow. The nice thing about this technique is that you really don't need to re-shoot the coin. With 11 pictures in the high def we're talking 30 MB worth of coin for the obv with a far greater pixel range than a single pic.
