  • Being the cynic I am, I think Comrad Alex has some nice lakeside property in New Orleans to sell you.....Mike
  • First question is, do you post on rec.collecting.coins? If so it is possible that he is just looking for an email penpal but be suspicious. Give no specifics about what you have or where you are located. There are a lot of scammers with .ru email addresses that will try to scam you by offering you rare coins at bargin prices. If you send the money wave bye-bye to it because you will not see it or the coins again. The bad thing is there are legitimite collectors there as well, but how can you tell the real from the fake? If they are willing to trade low value common coins then sure it might be worthwhile. You might consider, if you are going to contact them, using a throwaway email acccount in case they are trying to harvest e-mail addresses.
  • I haven't posted at RCC in some time now. Sadly, the russian dudes looking to do some trading are usually scam artits. It's well (at least I thought it was) known. They fish arround hoping to snag someone in and offer trades but usually don't send anything in return.
  • Yes it is wel known, but there is always a chance of a legitimite one turning up which is why I answered as I did.

I tend to be cautious with responding to unsolicited emails, especially ones sent directly to my personal email account, rather than through a PM feature such as on these boards.

PS. Moscow is a spectacular place to visit, and it is one of my top 3 favorite places in the world to visit.
