You might want to compare it to this one. Have to link to PCGS registery as the picture is too big to post here. 1916-D F-15 Too me the one you showed has too much detail in the D for it to be real. The pictures of the ones I have seem have allways looked like globs on the real ones.
Here is an image of die number three. There were four dies used on the 1916-D and the one you show looks like it could be die three. But just because it looks right doesn't mean it is not a fake.

Something stinks, and it is this coin. Mea culpa: I bought it last fall on impulse from one of our favorite people, the Savannah Scammer. I saw thousands of transactions, a high feedback rating, and thought I was sneaking in under the radar. PCGS couldn't bag it fast enough. A hard lesson learned! To those who spotted it right away, your knowledge Looks all good to me!
I looked at the answers already.... but my initial respomse by examination was that is looked really odd. The coin around it is more worn than the mintmark, specifically the E in "one" and everything right of the MM.
So looking at the original photo and the die number 3 photo, the mintmark on the bad coin is too high when compared to the leaves (should be more towards the bottom I guess), the center of the MM is not triangular, and the serifs on the D are not correct. Are the serifs on the other 3 dies similar to die #3?
Just curious if anyone has any more info on spotting bad 16-D's in case I ever get one in change!

<< <i>Keep in mind the way this coin may have worn....
No offense, but I don't think that is the case on this one.
