Ever over paid on purpose?

Have you ever bought a coin because you really had to have it regardless of how much it was over in the book?

Be that a mere few dollars over or perhaps double or even treble the price listed in the book? (Of course the book can be wrong and underprice things but the question still stands). Even better if you knew you'd never make you money back on it... but bought it regardless. (I say good on yer!)

Good deals, bad deals I've made a few: The most I've paid for a coin is 167% of book value, but overall I've paid a total of 63% of book value for my collection in whole.

Ever over paid on purpose? Only on monster tone GSA CCs; with bright reds/greens ect.. Certain ones realize unimaginable prices..

just did it for a 1796 LIHERTY 1c in a PCGS holder. Try and find another pcgs. now he's got my little green slips of paper and I got the coin.

Yes I have a few TOP POP's and a few others that I had to throw the book away on.
This is one of the latest ones.

Yes. I have for differring reasons. Sometime you simply can't find a coin of the quality for the price and you need to over pay, and sometime you overpay to get a coin you simply can't find anywhere else. In the long run if you're a collector it doesn't matter and if you are a long term investor, time will make up for a few dollars over spent.
