Probably due to the milk spots on the obverse ...

Try inputting the serial number of the coin into the Cert. Verification function on the website and see what comes up. If they've updated the database it should show the coin's current grade.
    When in doubt, don't.

"N/A" usually stands for "not applicable", which in this case might mean PCGS did not think the coin warranted a down-grade. Hence, "N/A" could mean "no adjustment" as some have already said.

image Thanks for trying to help me out guys! I called Customer Service and heres the scoop:

Coin is coming back to me Raw.

PCGS is reimbursing my cost for the coin and all grading and shipping fee's involved.

I hope to get an explanation letter along with the coin. We'll see.

    Thanks Again for the help.

Probably not, I think you have to do a presidential review to get that. And even then you won't always get it.

That 1837 Bust Half is a much better coin to own than the modern Franklin, and you never need to worry about milk spots on the Bustie. You did get short changed on the Bustie though, they left off the letters on the third side.image
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

Was that Franklin artificially frosted? Looks like it was altered to look Cameo, PCGS missed it, and then it turned spotty in the holder. Another possibility is that it was dipped prior to submission to remove haze, and the owner didn't rinse it properly. I'd try to dip it again with a proper rinse if I owned it.

I don't think it's artifically frosted. Probably bad risnse job. I was thinking about sending it to NCS but I may give it a try myself. Heres my pic's of the coin RAW:

Couple o' questions for Lee (I have one in for downgrade review since 7/14, and haven't heard nuttin' yet):

Did PCGS contact you regarding your options? ie. Refund your purchase price vs. reslab at a lower grade and pay you the difference in value?

How did PCGS know the purchase price? Did you have to provide any documentation supporting your purchase price (reciept, invoice, etc.)?
