This is so freakin image

I would love to have copy's of the pages, but unfortanly I don't think that would be possibleimage

Pricey, but absolutely deserves a image, because of the link to the early US mint and their coins....

That is pretty cool. I wonder how they valued it, though. I also wonder what part of its value is derived from being about the mint, rather than just its age. I would think a pretty small percentage.

Great question. DLRC is a very legitimate and reputable dealer but I for one, wouldn't know how to price it. Its odd, because in terms of demand, 99%+ of the world could care less about an article reporting about the formation of the US Mint. However, the survival rate of this Columbian newspaper is probably extremely small also. Compare this to the supply AND demand (worldwide) for a NY Times paper reporting Armstrong's moon-walk or the D-Day invasion.

I think items like this are cooler when they accompany a certain coin -- perhaps a 1792 Half Disme or 1793 cent?

I think this is EXTREMELY cool. I would love to own this. If I didn't have a big coin on lay-away, I would be buying this. I would love to have this along with a 1792 half disme which I will own at somepoint in my collecting career.

I used to buy papers from a dealer named Phil Barber in Boston MA.

Google em and get his catalogue if he still sends them out.

    Enjoy

That's really a great marketing plan as well and I used to do that years ago when I could find the papers and if it made economic sense to do so. ( some of these things are available for 5, 10 bucks, sometimes less)

Tough to do with Southern material though as it seems the Southern newspapers are way more valuable than the northern ones.
