Silver Commemoratives - Are These Bullion Coins - Milk Spots

I've seen multiple threads on the "Milk Spot" problem on American and World Bullion coins. Kind of curious since American and World Commemorative coins are also made out of same material "Pure Silver" if they are also subject to the same "Milk Spot" problems?

I searched through all the past threads, but can not come up with this answer.

Advise Please.

Aren't the US silver commem's 90% silver and the bullion coins .999 fine?

That is correct. I've been a victim of milk spotting on my SAE's and was ready to forget modern silver entirely, (still thinking on that one), but was told the difference in the metal and that had me reconsidering my position.

Modern Silver Commems are .900 fine. the ASE's are bullion and essentially pure silver.

Yes, I think so. I know that the Canadian Commemoratives are .925 to .950 Silver and I think that you are correct that the US Commemoratives are .900 Silver.

With that in mind, are they still subject to the problems on American and Canadian "Milk Spots" that are found on .999 Bullion Coins?

Even though the modern commemoratives are only 90% silver; I have a PCGS MS69 commemorative coin with a milk spot.

what you're seeing probably isn't a "milkspot" but is instead some form of contamination, most likely PVC. milkspots are actually "strike-through" of a contaminant on the planchet and are impossible to remove totally since they are a part of the coin's surface once struck. that used to be a problem but the Mint has seemingly resolved it. the contaminat you're describing could probably be removed if it hasn't already etched the surface of the coin which might result in a shadow being visible after conservation.
