I've been looking for a nice 1918 Illinois with any color, let alone nice color. I've included a "super-sized" image of the lower obverse below. Thoughts on coin and grade.

Of all the coins you have put up, this is my least favorite. I just don't prefer this splotchy look.
I would not have picked this to be in your collection.
Why not just buy a nice white Lincoln so you can see all the flaws?
Appreciate you posting your commem pics and comments as that is the series I'm working on most actively(although all of mine are more subtly toned than yours- or white). I know it is jumping on the bandwagon, but prior to reading the other comments, my impression was-I don't care for that splotchy toning on the obverse. Otherwise it looks well struck and unmarked. I'll gues MS 66. I can't recall any others you've posted that I felt that way about- I am very jealous of your signature Golden bear!

artificial lighting has magnified the scratches on the holder, but it appears to be in the MS66/67 range.
I would have held out for a nicer example, color-wise, but that could be a very long wait and so this
coin will suit you well for the time being. You could have done much worse given the dipped out
look so many of these coins have when presented in an all white state.
I am not sure that is exactly a ringing endorsememt. I would rather be shot in the little toe than in the head, but it does not mean that I would like to be shot at all.
It's not a bad coin so long as the buyer is happy with it. Given what I have seen of Dizzy's purchases, it really does match the toning of some of his/her other coins. Perhaps in a vacuum, it is not the coin that I would pick, but knowing how these coins can look and knowing Dizzy's taste for toning, it might actually be the perfect acquisition for the collection.

Shoot, I show plenty of crusty Bust halves that many on here don't like (or don't understand) and it makes
me love them even more.
I use to tell the ex-wife every-time she upset me that it made me love her even more too.

I certainly wouldn't say "dumped it". The coin is awsome in my opinion but unfortunately my pockets don't have an endless supply of Franklins so when I see a coin that I love, I often must trade away to get it. Whether I owned the coin that I trade away for a day or a year, is actually irrelevant.

I understand and do the same thing sometimes. It just struck me as odd, because there was negative feedback for the coin and poof,
it's gone the next day. BTW, don't get so touchy. You asked for feedback and I gave some. Excuuuse me.

I very much appreciate both constructive criticism, as well as positive feedback and any/all comments. It's helped me gain a great deal of knowledge in a short period of time. Oh, and you're excused.
