Superior weirdness

Was looking through the wheat cents on the bay and came across a 1909 VDB being auctioned by Superior Galleries, it's at $41. Then as I'm looking through the BIN items in eBay stores I see what looks to be the same coin being offered for a BIN of $44, check the PCGS cert. numbers and the coins pictured in both auctions are the same coin. The kicker is Superior is the seller of both coins lol.

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can (or used to be able to) do that. See the users agreement.

If you check Superior's listings you'll find screwup after screwup. Whomever handles eBay for them must drink on the job.

  • So whats up with Superior? do they just cater to retail people? someone told me they were a wholesaler, so i called them up the other day, faxed them the numbers i do with heritage, and told them i needed a 1924 Saint in 67 and they quoted me 8k in a NGC and PCGS holderimage

Another thing they do that annoys me is absolutely flood eBay with their live auctions. One minute there are none and you hit refresh and there are 200 all in a row, no big deal I guess I just get annoyed scrolling through them all to get to the real auctions.

They have got to be doing that for publicity. Doubt that I would ever buy a coin from them.

Personally, I avoid the 'hereyee bell'.
    Have a nice day

I have seen people talking about Superior on this forum before in not such a good light , my question is.....

WHY do they have a banner on this board ? image

Guess they don't read the boards. image

What I collect depends on, mood, time of day,
the weather, available funds, what is in front of me,
and other factors which is beyond my scope. image

How long does it take Superior to post results from their auctions?

I was high on 4 lots when the internet phase of session 1 closed, so I'm eager to find out how much I lost them by at the floor session.
    When in doubt, don't.

If you look in the fine print of the listing they have a disclaimer about the coin pictured is not necessarily the coin you will recieve. I won't buy anything from Superior on Ebay...

  • Superior's last 2 auctions have been on the weird side. It's not just the ebay listings Russ, the mistakes in the listings on their website for absentee bidding are comical at first. Then you begin to wonder if they just plain don't care what gets put up as long as it is something. It really has the appearance of a lot of last minute rush jobs thrown into one big rush job to me.

I have to agree with everything that has been posted here- their ebay auctions just seem unprofessional, and I've learned to just avoid them......
